Ones might said this is the place for hisos for having British Classic Dishes or British Tea time. But I think that this is the place for quite and peaceful meal with good food great taste.
I know this restaurant since I was young when the owner opened here first place at Oriental Plaza (near Oriental Hotel). I still rememeber that lots of executives and expats had lunch which were served by owners themselves. I remember it as the British Classic Restaurant more than a tea house.
Years past, more people know The Cup as a Tea House with a variety of British Desserts & British Tea. But to me, I alway Roast lamb drenched in rich gravy or Roast pork with home made apple sauce (actually my favourite -- only available on Monday & Thursday only)

Other thing about The Cup is that no printed menu but a large handwritten chalkboard menu is posted daily on the wall of the restaurant (as always). The ambiance is very pleasant, educated, proper but not stuffy. White table cloths lit up the room as sun light shone through the big windows look outside to see view of lake (as they said it's lake rachada).

There is also a lunch set --- consists of soup or salad, main dishes (of your choices), dessert (of your choices), coffee or tea.
Right picture is Salad Bar -- There're always 3 types of dressing (try the yellow house dressing -- you will be amazed)Here's my choice ... starting with Clear Chicken Soup -- so clear, not oily, with a little of carrot --- what should I say "So REAL chicken soup". It was served with a piece of pastry with buttery taste.
Followed by ... Warm King Prawn on Bed of Articoke Heart and Orange Butter Sauce ... Hmm what a great combination -- I thought Duck goes well with orange sauce, but this dishes was excellent !!! It's was served with green salad with Balsamic Dressing. My dessert was Assorted Crape (Praline with peach) --- I like the sauce, so buttery aroma with a crispy crushed caramel praline.
There are also an a-la-cart menu such as : Pasta Marina -- Penne fried with king prawn and sun dried tomato served with green salad and House Dressing
Pizza Bread with Olive and Anchovie -- it might look black and not good but the taste is real of olive and so anchovy (left)
and French Onion Soup -- so clear soup with onion taste (right)
Dessert : must order Cherry Crumble with custard cream
There're still lots to try -- you can walk to the cabinet and pick any you like.
